County Awaiting Results Of Tongue Foot Scan

worcestershire are awaiting the results of a mri scan to determine the extent of paceman josh tongue’s foot injury.

tongue was unable to bowl in the second innings of the final specsavers county championship match with yorkshire at New Road.

he has been named in the england lions squad to take on pakistan ‘a’ in a four-day ‘test’ in november in the uae.

but that is subject to the extent of his foot problem.

worcestershire head coach kevin sharp confirmed: “josh has had a scan on his foot. he had a foot injury earlier in the season.

“he’s had some soreness. he went over in the foot holds last week when he was bowling at chelmsford and it is sore again.

“he’s had a scan on it but, as yet, we don’t know what the results are but, hopefully, it’s not too serious.”

tongue was side-lined for two and a half months from early june to mid august with a metatarsal fracture.

but the academy product has still taken 40 championship wickets from his first season of division one cricket to follow his 47 in 2017.
