County Batsman Westbury Completes Hundred On Debut In New Zealand

Ollie Westbury completed a century on his debut for Grafton United CC who picked up the first innings points in the Auckland Cricket Premier Men’s Tom Hellaby two-day competition match with Ellerslie.

The Worcestershire batsman had resumed on 84 not out and went onto make 104 before he was fifth out at 257.

Westbury struck seven boundaries in his 180 ball innings as Grafton reached 334-9 declared – a lead of 183.

They left themselves 50 overs to try and force an outright victory but Ellerslie closed on 151-3 in their second innings with Westbury taking one catch.

George Rhodes was on the losing side as he finally made his first appearance of this winter for Onslow after two wash-outs.

The Worcestershire all-rounder accumulated 24 off 39 balls with one six and one four in the Ewen Chatfield Trophy 50 over match with Johnsonville in Wellington.

He shared in a second wicket partnership of 50 with Alex Ridley.

But Onslow were bowled out for 132 in 35 overs and their opponents pulled off a four wicket success, reaching 136-6 in 35 overs. Rhodes bowled four overs for 28 runs.

Ed Barnard scored 31 in his first knock of the 2018-2019 campaign for Scarborough who surrendered first innings points to Melville in the Western Australia Cricket Association first grade.

The Worcestershire all-rounder went in at number five at 112-3 as Onslow chased Melville’s first day total of 288 in 90 overs.

Barnard’s knock spanned 74 balls and contained three fours before he was one of three players dismissed with the total on 166.

His side were eventually bowled out for 215 in 71.1 overs but then Melville were reduced to 62-5 in reply.
