County Batsman Westbury Makes Another Promising Start For Grafton

Ollie Westbury will be looking to capitalise on another encouraging performance for Grafton United next week on day two of the Auckland Cricket Premier Men’s Tom Hellaby Championship match with North Shore.

The Worcestershire batsman will resume on 30 not out as Grafton aim to surpass North Shore’s first innings total of 209 from 76 overs today.

Westbury has struck two boundaries to date in his 64 ball knock and added an unbroken 57 with Parth Patel (27) to steer Grafton to 65-1.

Last weekend Westbury completed a century on his debut as Grafton claimed first innings points against Ellerslie.

George Rhodes impressed with the ball but his side, Onslow CC, went down by three wickets in the Rothbury Capital City Men’s Ewen Chatfield Trophy match with Taita.

The Worcestershire all-rounder returned figures of 10-0-37-2 and also held onto two catches but Taita reached a 191 target with 9.5 overs to spare.

Rhodes had earlier been dismissed for two as Onslow were bowled out for 190 with one ball remaining of their 50 overs.

Ed Barnard spent the opening day of Scarborough’s Western Australia Cricket Association two-day match with Rockingham Mandurah in the field.

The Worcestershire all-rounder, who is not bowling in the early rounds of his spell Down Under, picked up one catch as Rockingham were bowled out for 248 in 84.2 overs.

Scarborough reached 8-0 by the close.
