County Duo Mcclenaghan And Munro Help Auckland Register Trio Of Victories

New Zealand duo Mitchell McClenaghan and Colin Munro, who both played for Worcestershire last season, have been in fine form in helping Auckland register a quickfire hat-trick of wins in the 50 over Ford Trophy competition.

Paceman McClenaghan has been outstanding with the ball in picking up 11 wickets in three matches against Wellington, Canterbury and Otago.

The 28-year-old replaced Saeed Ajmal during the latter part of 2014 as the county's overseas player in LV = County Championship and Royal London Cup matches and finished as Worcestershire's leading wicket-taker in the latter competition.

McClenaghan returned 3-30 in the 193 run win against Wellington and 4-39 in the seven wicket success over Canterbury before yesterday (Friday) picking up four wickets for 34 runs in the 97 run triumph over Otago.

He had previously featured in four ODIs for New Zealand against Pakistan in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi respectively and finished with six wickets.

Munro was Worcestershire's overseas player for their NatWest T20 Blast campaign and finished as their second highest run-scorer behind skipper Daryl Mitchell in the run to the quarter-finals.

The 27-year-old scored 79 not out against Wellington as Auckland amassed 385-5 in their 50 overs.

Munro was unbeaten on 12 and at the wicket when the win over Canterbury was completed and then made 22 as Auckland scored 344 against Otago.

Before that Munro had scored a half century for New Zealand 'A' against Ireland in an ODI in Dubai before playing in two first class matches for Auckland against Central Districts (making 32 and 15) and Wellington (47 and 59) prior to the trio of Ford Trophy matches.
