County Field Experienced Side In Three Day Fenners Friendly

Worcestershire are resting several players but still fielding a strong side for the three-day match with Cambridge University at Fenners beginning today (Monday).

Skipper Daryl Mitchell, Alexei Kervezee, Gareth Andrew, Ben Cox, Saeed Ajmal, Jack Shantry and Charlie Morris plus on loan Alex Hales will not be in action of the side which draw at Glamorgan in the LV = County Championship.

Those players are instead honing their skills for the forthcoming NatWest T20 Blast and several of them featured in one or the other of two Second Eleven Trophy T20 matches with Glamorgan at Kidderminster on Friday.

Matt Pardoe, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Ross Whiteley, who all played at the Swalec Stadium, will play against the students while six other members of the side have first team experience.

Paceman Chris Russell played in the opening LV = County Championship match of the season with Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.

Batsman Tom Fell impressed in the senior side in 2013 and scored 62 not out against Australia and an unbeaten 94 against Kent.

Joe Leach scored his maiden first class century against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham last July and has been skippering the second eleven this season.

Worcestershire: Pardoe, Kohler-Cadmore, Fell, Whiteley, Leach, Hepburn, D'Oliveira, G Rhodes, Cessford, Russell, Harrison.
