County Keeper-Batsman Milton Is New Captain Of Cardiff Mccu

Worcestershire CCC wicket-keeper batsman Alex Milton has been appointed the new captain of Cardiff MCCU.

Milton, who signed his first professional contract with the County at the end of last season, will lead Cardiff MCCU for the 2018 campaign.

It is his third and final year at University where he is studying for a B.Sc. Psychology degree.

Milton enjoyed a successful time with the bat for Cardiff MCCU last summer, scoring centuries against two of the more powerful universities in Loughborough and Leeds-Bradford.

He has also just been awarded the Graham Haines Award for 2017 for contributions on and off the field combining studies with training and competition.

Milton also experienced a record-breaking season for Cardiff CC in the South Wales Premier Cricket League.

He became the first player to score 1,000 runs in a season in the competition and played a major role in Cardiff lifting the title.

Milton is to play this summer in the same competition for Port Talbot CC whose assigned player is the Australian international Shaun Marsh.

Twenty-one-year-old Milton produced several impressive performances for Worcestershire Seconds last summer.

They included 91 against a Yorkshire Seconds attack comprising Liam Plunkett, Jack Brooks, Ryan Sidebottom and Ben Coad in a Championship match at RGS Worcester.
