Adam Finch impressed for England Young Lions despite being on the losing side in the T20I with Bangladesh Under-19s at the Sheikh Kamar International Cricket Stadium at Cox’s Bazar.
The Worcestershire paceman, who is in his first full year as a fully fledged professional, came on first change and immediately applied the brake as Bangladesh chased a 121 target.
Finch conceded just eight runs in his three overs at an economy rate of only 2.66 runs per over.
But the home side achieved a seven wicket victory, reaching 123-3 with seven balls to spare.
Academy product Finch lived up his standing as one of the squad’s more experienced players after playing in the 2018 ICC World Cup and series against India and South Africa during the last 18 months.
Finch did not have an opportunity to bat as the Young Lions made 120-8 with George Hill (34) their top scorer.
The Young Lions will now turn their attention to the three ODIS and two Tests against Bangladesh.
Head coach Jon Lewis said: “Before we arrived we expected to face a streetwise side in conditions that would be alien to our young players. It was a brilliant learning experience for us as a team and individuals.
“I hope that the boys take the learnings from the game and the conditions we played in so that they are able to shift their games forward and we can win the ODI series this week.
“Results aside this type of tour for this age group is a fantastic opportunity for developing our best young players.”
