Worcestershire Academy player Jack Haynes captained the Midlands to another 50 over title success in the Super Fours at Loughborough.
Haynes and fellow Academy players, Xaxie Clarke and Zain Ul-Hassan, helped the Midlands to finish top in the four-team tournament which is effectively the Under-17s equivalent of the Bunburys.
They won two of their three matches to finish in front of the South West, the North and London-East.
It was a proud moment for England Under-19 player Haynes, who recently signed his first professional contract with the County, when he received the trophy from ECB national performance manager David Graveney.
Haynes and Ul-Hassan had also been part of the Midlands side which had completed a Super Fours 50 over and T20 double 12 months ago when the side was coached by Worcestershire Academy coach Elliot Wilson.
This year Midlands defeated the South West by 54 runs in their opening game with Haynes scoring 21 and Ul-Hassan returning the fine figures of 7.4-0-29-3.
Haynes and Clarke both scored 31 and Ul-Hassan ended with 9.4-0-38-3 in Game Two – a nine run success over the North.
Midlands lost their final game by 40 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis Method to London-East – with Clarke making 18, Haynes 11 and Ul-Hassan bowling six overs for 17 runs – but their overall points tally ensured they won the competition.
They did not fare so well in the T20 competition, losing the semi-final to the North by 16 runs and then being beaten by six wickets by the South West in the plate final.
