COUNTY PLAYER WESTBURY LEADING RUN SCORER IN BIRMINGHAM PREMIER LEAGUE

Worcestershire CCC batsman Ollie Westbury continued his fine form for Himley and is the leading run-scorer in the Birmingham League this summer.

Westbury struck 76 off 113 balls with one six and 13 fours in the six wicket success over Bromsgrove.

He has now amassed 672 runs in 13 innings during 2019 with one century and seven half centuries at an average of 96.00.

Westbury shared in a fourth wicket stand of 89 with Daniel Durman (41 not out) as Himley reached a 191 target in 50.5 overs. Alex Milton made 15 for Bromsgrove.

Jack Haynes followed up his two half centuries for Worcestershire Seconds in the T20 competition against Northamptonshire by making 71 for Ombersley against Leamington.

Opener Haynes raced to 50 off 38 balls and in total hit 15 fours.

He shared in an opening stand of 114 with Liam Gwynne (80) but Ombersley just held on for a losing draw at 210-9 in reply to Leamington’s 308-5.

George Rhodes made 54 off 78 balls with nine fours and picked up two wickets for Barnards Green but their total of 224 was overhauled by Wolverhampton who won by five wickets with Tom Fell dismissed for 10.

Worcestershire coach Andy Sutton (2-24) and pathway player Henry Marshall (2-22) helped Barnt Green to a 57 run win over Smethwick who were dismissed for 158.
