Six senior Worcestershire players and three of the club's Academy intake are currently in Chennai honing their batting skills against spin.
Skipper Daryl Mitchell, Tom Fell, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Alexei Kervezee, Brett D'Oliveira and Shaaiq Choudhry plus Academy trio Nick Hammond, Josh Dell and Freddie Wynn are testing themselves against the turning ball.
Batting coach and second eleven coach Kevin Sharp and academy coach Elliot Wilson have accompanied the players on the 10 day trip.
It is hoped to bring regular updates on how the trip is progressing and here is Elliot's first blog entitled: Day One-Flight-First Impressions-First Day.
He writes: "So we arrived in Chennai 4:50am having transferred from Mumbai a few hours earlier. The Gateway hotel welcomed us superbly and the facilities at the hotel are first class with pool, gym and spa all available 24/7.
"The flight was fantastic and transfers were very easy for all involved. We spent most of the first day with various combinations and theories to avoid jet lag.
"I think Alexi (Kervezee) had three trips to the gym to avoid a dreaded mid day snooze.
"Expectations ahead of day one were a mixture of excitement and trepidation amongst the party with only a few of the party experiencing India conditions previously.
"It was pleasing to talk to the academy players and hear the excitement in their voices to get out and experience Chennai.
"It would be very easy for them to stick to the pleasant surroundings of the hotel and not venture out. All credit to them.
"There are four players on the trip from Ombersley CC in Brett, Fred, Nick and Josh.
"Hopefully this trip will not only develop all as current and future county professionals but also raise the standard of club cricket and support Ombersley CC in their first ever year of Birmingham Premier League Cricket.
"We had our first day of training and facilities at the Cricket Dome complex are far from what many of the boys are used to but the surfaces were fantastic.
"As you would expect there was little 'grass' to be found and surfaces turned prodigiously but consistently from ball one.
"It highlighted the need for attention to detail with footwork versus spinners.
"The pleasing aspect was to hear that the philosophies we have been encouraging were going to be key to success and ultimately Improvement.
"What was apparent was the increased attention to detail required in applying these philosophies.
"At the end of day one, after some hot and steamy sessions, the boys were happy to return to The Gateway for a dip and a rub down in the spa.
"It has been a great first two days and all is as we would have hoped and, with Umesh arriving from the Flobal Cricket Academy, I am sure the boys will be tested and challenged in the days to come."
