Five Worcestershire players were denied the chance to return to action in Australia by the weather after the three week break for Christmas and the New Year.
Joe Leach, Ed Barnard, Richard Oliver, Ben Cox and Jack Shantry were all left kicking their heels in frustration because of the elements.
Leach's side, North Canberra Gungahlin, had to settle for two points after their match away to Ginninderra in the Australian Capital Territory first grade was abandoned.
The same fate befell Barnard, with Queanbeyan District's game away to Western District in the ACT first grade also falling victim to the weather and resulting in two points apiece.
Geelong City skipper Richard Oliver remained on the side-lines as the home Geelong Cricket Association Division One game with South Barwon was also called off.
It was the same scenario for Jack Shantry and Ben Cox as the opening day of Greenvale Kangaroos Victorian Premier Cricket Bartercard Men's Premier Firsts match with visiting Frankston Peninsula was washed out.
The duo will hope for better fortunes with the second day which is scheduled for January 17.
Ross Whiteley was able to get out on the field but only for a short period with Prospect CC on the opening day of their South Australian Cricket Association 'A' grade match at home to Gleneig.
Only eight overs were possible after Prospect were put in and they reached 15-2 with Whiteley, batting at number three, unbeaten on 10.
The game is scheduled to be concluded today (Sunday).
