The Worcestershire CCC squad have arrived back in England after a successful 11 day training camp in Abu Dhabi.
The coaches and players were greeted by snow on their return today from an invaluable exercise as part of the build up to the new season in the UAE.
Worcestershire were able to undertake several days warm weather training in addition to playing three days cricket against a UAE X1 (one dayer) and Cambridge University (two days).
All the batsmen and bowlers were able to spend either time in the middle or get some overs under their belt.
Now the attention turns to warm-up games for the new campaign in English conditions.
The County face Somerset on Thursday and Friday in a game switched from Taunton Vale to the main County Ground in Taunton.
One team will bat 60 overs on the opening day and the other team the final 30 overs – a process that will be reversed on the second day.
Somerset Director of Cricket Andy Hurry said: “We will be doing everything that we can to stage the Worcestershire match here at the Cooper Associates County Ground.
“We want to maximise the chances of this fixture taking place, so we have taken the decision to move it. We want to give ourselves the best possible chance of this fixture going ahead.”
The onus will switch to one-day cricket on Monday week (March 26) with Worcestershire facing Gloucestershire in a 50 over contest at Bristol.
Then on the following Tuesday and Wednesday (March 27 and 28), the two sides will contest a two-day game.
