Worcestershire rewrote the history books in reaching a 305 target and registering a splendid seven wicket win over Lancashire Lightning in a Royal London One-Day Cup Group A clash at New Road.
It was the highest score that the county have chased down to win a 50 over match, surpassing the 304 against Warwickshire in a Friends Provident Trophy encounter at New Road seven years ago.
Fine knocks by skipper Daryl Mitchell, Tom Fell, Alexei Kervezee and Ross Whiteley powered Worcestershire to victory with 13 balls to spare.
Kervezee and Whiteley completed the magnificent victory charge with an unbroken partnership of 89 in 8.3 overs.
Victory also kept alive Worcestershire's hopes of reaching a quarter-final of the season ahead of their three remaining One-Day Cup fixtures against Hampshire (away Monday), Gloucestershire (home Wednesday ) and Leicestershire (away Thursday).
The home side made two changes with Gareth Andrew and Charlie Morris returning to the side in place of Tom Kohler-Cadmore (finger injury) and spinner Shaaiq Choudhry who was ill.
Lancashire were put into bat and Usman Khawaja was dropped at first slip by Fell off county paceman Mitchell McClenaghan.
Khawaja picked up three boundaries in an over from McClenaghan viaa cover-drive, pull and an inside edge.
But McClenaghan responded in fine style by bowling Khawaja for 21 after he had offered no stroke.
Lancashire were contained to 47-1 in the initial 10 over powerplay.
Ashwell Prince looked in good touch in reaching his half century off 56 balls with nine boundaries.
Brown reached his 50 off 68 deliveries but did not add to his score before he lofted Charlie Morris into the hands of Richard Oliver on the mid-wicket boundary with the total on 152 in the 30th over.
Lancashire took their second powerplay at 182-3 after 35 overs.
Leach had Paul Horton caught behind by Ben Cox for a 45-ball 43 and Alex Davies (11) attempted the scoop shot against Shantry and also perished to the county wicket-keeper.
Croft's half century came up off 51 balls but he fell in the same over to Leach when being caught by Kervezee on the mid-wicket boundary.
Jordan Clark (20) fell in the same manner off Morris in the final over as Lancashire closed on 304-7.
McClenaghan finished with 1-52, Morris 2-54, Shantry 1-55, Leach 2-70 and Whiteley 1-61.
Worcestershire opener Oliver made a quickfire 13 before he was caught behind off Tom Bailey.
But then Fell and Mitchell laid the foundations for a push for victory with a stand of 137 in 27 overs.
Fell reeled off a series of impressive bundaries through pulls and cuts in reaching an excellent half century off 58 balls with eight fours.
A cover drive for four by Fell off Simon Kerrigan brought up the 100 partnership in 19 overs.
Mitchell worked the ball around in typically effective manner in addition to picking up the occasional boundary as he moved to his 50 off 67 balls with three fours.
Worcestershire decided to take their second powerplay at 150-1 off 30 overs and a superb stand was finally ended when Fell was caught on the square leg boundary off Wayne White for 74.
His innings spanned 92 balls and contained 10 fours.
Kervezee came to the wicket and proved another able partner for Mitchell during a stand of 58 in eight overs.
Mitchell reached 88 off 102 balls with five fours when he was caught behind trying to steer White to third man. It was another invaluable contribution from the skipper in his golden summer.
Worcestershire required 84 off the final 10 overs but a powerful assault from Kervezee and Ross Whiteley saw them home in 47.5 overs.
Kervezee finished 63 not out from 49 balls with eight fours while Whiteley's unbeaten 45 came off 31 deliveries with three sixes and four fours.
It topped off superb Saturday afternoon entertainment for the sizeable crowd on the kind of wicket ideal for one-day cricket.
