COUNTY SIGNING PARNELL AND UNITED BIDDING FOR SUPER LEAGUE GLORY

COUNTY SIGNING PARNELL AND UNITED BIDDING FOR SUPER LEAGUE GLORY

Wayne Parnell and his side Islamabad United will be bidding for glory when they take on host side Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League ‘Eliminator One’ tomorrow.

The Worcestershire all-rounder and his team-mates have qualified for the knockout stages of the competition with five wins and five defeats in their group games.

Parnell and Islamabad – the 2018 winners – will be hot favourites to triumph against the Kings.

In the two group matches, they triumphed by seven wickets in Sharjah and five wickets in Dubai.

Parnell will link up with Worcestershire to begin a three year contract from 2019 to 2021 at the completion of the competition.

He played an important role in helping the Rapids to win the Vitality Blast last summer.

Parnell has experienced a busy winter playing for Kabul Zwanan in the Afghanistan Premier League, Kerala Knights in the T10 League in Sharjah plus one game for Sylhet Sixers in the Bangladesh Premier League before linking up with Islamabad.

*Martin Guptill was dismissed for a duck as Auckland went down by 80 runs in a rain affected Plunket Shield clash in Rangiora.

Auckland forfeited their first innings and Canterbury declared their second innings at 22-2 to set them a 351 target but they were dismissed for 270.
