County Signing Travis Head Enjoys Successful Campaign For South Australia

Travis Head will head to Worcestershire on the back of a successful campaign with the bat for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield.

The left-hander – the County’s main overseas player for 2018 – led by example as captain by scoring 738 runs in eight matches.

Head hit two centuries and four fifties in 16 innings and finished with an average of 46.12

The 24-year-old finished third in the SA averages and was also his team’s third highest run-scorer behind Callum Ferguson – 780 at 48.75 – and Jake Weatherald – 765 at 38.25.

But Head’s own fine efforts could not prevent SA from finishing bottom of the six team table with two wins, six losses and two draws.

It will be Queensland and Tasmania who will contest the final from this Friday.

Head scored 31 and 47 in SA’s final match of the summer Down Under against Western Australia in Adelaide.

He is available for 10 of the County’s 14 Specsavers County Championship matches, the whole of the Vitality Blast and the bulk of the Royal London One-Day Cup group campaign.
