COUNTY SPINNER TWOHIG’S FRUGAL SPELL WITH BALL IN VAIN

Ben Twohig was Southern Districts most economical bowler but ended on the losing side for the second time in 24 hours in a South Australia Cricket Association Premier Cricket West End T20 Cup match against Port Adelaide.

The Worcestershire spinner was entrusted with the new ball as his side looked to defend a competitive looking total of 175-2 of which opener Joshua Barrett hit an unbeaten 111 off 61 balls.

Twohig, who did not have the opportunity to bat, then sent down four overs for just 26 runs.

He actually conceded 14 runs in his first over but the other three yielded just 12 runs as he bowled in two spells of two overs apiece.

Port Adelaide needed only 16.4 overs to reach their target as Twohig’s efforts proved to be in vain.

Another opener in Ben Cooper struck an unbeaten 117 from 63 deliveries as the visitors reached 176-2.

On the previous day Twohig had bowled three overs for 25 runs and scored seven off 12 balls batting at number four as Southern Districts went down by 87 runs to Sturt in another T20 game.
