he came to the wicket at number three in the first over at 0-1 and was ninth out at 211 shortly before south australia were bowled out for 213.
ferguson struck 19 boundaries in his 246 ball knock and the next highest score in the innings was 31.
he had previously hit list a centuries after returning to south australia from New Road against victoria – 133 in melbourne – and queensland – 101 in sydney.
ferguson and his team-mates will now take a break from sheffield shield action until the new year with south australia currently occupying bottom spot.
