Worcestershire still head Division Two in the LV = County Championship despite not participating in the last round of matches.
Hampshire could have regained top spot had they beaten Gloucestershire at the Ageas Bowl but they were left hanging on for a draw after facing a first innings deficit of 207 and accumulated only eight points.
As a result Worcestershire are still in front on 160 points from 10 matches – four more than Hampshire who have now played a match more.
Surrey's promotion push has been gaining momenetum and victory over Glamorgan at Colwyn Bay was their third in the last four matches.
They are now five points behind skipper Daryl Mitchell's side in third spot but have played two games more.
Worcestershire will return to Championship action on Sunday when they entertain Leicestershire at New Road.
