County T20 Blast Signing Munro Through To Ipl Final With Indians

Worcestershire Rapids NatWest T20 Blast overseas player Colin Munro's side, Mumbai Indians, are through to the final of the Indian Premier League.

Mumbai made sure of their place in Sunday's final by overcoming Chennai Super Kings by 25 runs in the first qualifier.

Munro has not seen a great deal of action since he was signed up by the Indians after an outstanding winter for Auckland in 50 over and four-day cricket.

Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes is delighted that Munro is returning to New Road for a second spell.

He said: "Colin will have learnt a lot from being out there and experiencing the IPL but he hasn't played so he might be a little bit rusty initially.

"But going back to his form this winter, he played a very special innings with all those sixes (23) in one innings for Auckland.

"That is possibly why he ended up at Mumbai Indians. We know he is a dangerous player, the opposition know that, and they'll respect our team for having a player like that."

Munro was the Rapids second highest scorer in last season's T20 Blast behind skipper Daryl Mitchell.

Meanwhile his New Zealand team-mate, paceman Mitchell McClenaghan, is to join Middlesex for their final six group matches.

McClenaghan played for Worcestershire during the second half of last summer and was their leading wicket-taker in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
