County Under-17S Impress In Warm-Up For County Championship

Worcestershire Under-17s enjoyed the better of a two-day drawn game with their Warwickshire counterparts at Barnt Green.

It was an excellent work-out for the County ahead of the Specsavers Under-17 County Championship programme.

They will launch their fixtures against Hampshire Under-17s at Stourbridge next Monday in a three day fixture.

Worcestershire won the toss against Warwickshire and on day one totalled 337-9 off 104 overs.

Openers Daniel Holland – 60 off 120 balls with 10 fours – and Bilal Hussain – 96 off 144 balls with 14 boundaries – put on 132 for the first wicket.

Wickets then fell at regular intervals for a spell and Worcestershire at one stage were placed on 190-6.

But then Edward Bragg – 68 off 115 balls with two sixes and seven fours – and Henry Cullen – 57 off 120 deliveries with six fours – put on 82 for the seventh wicket.

A further 46 runs were added for the ninth wicket by Cullen and George Marshall (13 not out).

When Warwickshire batted on day two, they were bowled out for 211 in 67.4 overs.

New ball bowlers George and Henry Marshall did an excellent job and ended with figures of 14-4-33-2 and 18-8-31-2 respectively.

Josh Baker (10-3-31-2) and Hasnain Nawaz (8.4-1-26-2) continued the good work with the ball.

Warwickshire batted again for the remainder of the day and in 24 overs possible in their second innings reached 116-3.

Bragg (8-1-31-1), George Marshall (4-1-18-1) and Nawaz (5-1-23-1) enjoyed one success apiece.
