Worcestershire Under-17s two-day Inter-County clash with Warwickshire Under-17s at Rugby School ended in an honourable draw.

Warwickshire Under-17s gained a first innings lead of 87 thanks chiefly to a fine 152 from E. Brookes who shared in a double century partnership with B. Chapman-Lilley.

But Callum Lea struck a rapid 75 not out as Worcestershire Under-17s replied with 98-0 in their second innings before the two teams shook hands.

Warwickshire had resumed on 45-2 and lost a third wicket with only four runs added courtesy of a run out.

But then Brookes and Chapman-Lilley embarked on their fine partnership of 217.

Alex Coates finally ended the stand with a return catch to dismiss Champan-Lilley for 67 and held onto a chance offered by Chapman-Lilley off Charlie Cross.

Then Charlie Greening wrapped up the innings by dismissing the last three batsmen for ducks.

He finished with 3-40 with Coates 3-44 and Cross who sent down 30 overs for his 3-85 sharing the wickets.

When Worcestershire Under-17s batted again, Lea smashed an unbeaten 75 from 50 balls with one six and 11 fours.

Chad Brandrick (23 not out) helped him add 98 before stumps. —–
