County’s Proud Bowling Record Comes To An End At Chelmsford

County’s Proud Bowling Record Comes To An End At Chelmsford

Worcestershire surrendered a proud record spanning almost two seasons against Essex at Chelmsford today.

The county had collected maximum bowling points from 27 successive matches in the LV = County Championship.

But that sequence ended today with Essex ending the 110 overs allowed for bonus points on 319-7.

Worcestershire had failed to secure maximum points against Leicestershire at New Road in May 2013.

But they achieved that goal in the final 12 matches of last season and the first 15 of the current campaign.

Worcestershire claimed their seventh wicket with still 19 overs remaining at Chelmsford to give them a chance of extending the sequence.

But an eighth wicket partnership between Jesse Ryder and David Masters denied them any further successes before 110 overs were completed.
