Billy Cox picked up four wickets as Worcestershire Under-17s dismissed their Hampshire counterparts for 269 on the opening day of the ECB County Championship encounter at Basingstoke.
Cox removed both openers to reduce Hampshire to 11-2 after they had been put into bat by County skipper Zain Ul-Hassan.
He then returned to break a century partnership between H. Gadd and G. Metzger by having the latter caught behind for 21 at 175-5.
Cox went onto finish with 4-47 from 15.5 overs.
But Gadd held the Hampshire innings together in making 120 from 162 balls with 21 fours before he fell victim to Pete Clark who ended with 2-36.
Ul-Hassan and Ryan Wheldon, brought into the side in place of Kris Green, picked up one wicket apiece.
When Worcestershire launched their reply, openers Callum Lea and Jujhar Johal, who hit 159 in the drawn game with Devon, battled through to 32-0 by the close.
