Cox Claims Second Most Dismissals In Division One Of Lv = Cc

Ben Cox's excellent season behind the stumps is reflected in the list of dismissals for Division One of the LV = County Championship.

The Worcestershire player is currently lying in joint second spot after the latest round of Championship matches.

Only Middlesex's John Simpson is ahead of Cox on 31 dismissals consisting of 29 catches and two stumpings.

Cox has 28 dismissals to his name – the same number as Sussex's Ben Brown – with 27 catches and one stumping.

He has taken a series of excellent catches and this week England wicket-keeping coach Bruce French watched him in action against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

The most scalps Cox has claimed in an innings this summer was five during the first innings of the victory over Somerset at New Road including the top four in the batting line-up.

Cox has also enjoyed a successful season with the bat and is the county's second highest run-scorer with 474 in the LV = CC behind Tom Fell.

Worcestershire's record-holder for dismissals is current Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes who is eighth in the all-time list with 1,263 first class victims during a two decade career at New Road.

He is just ahead of another former distinguished Worcestershire wicket-keeper in Roy Booth with 1,126 dismissals.
