Cox Sees Mcc To Victory Over Durham With Big Hitting

Ben Cox sparkled with the bat to help MCC defeat Durham by six wickets in a Emirates Airline Twenty20 Trophy Group B match in Abu Dhabi.

The Worcestershire wicket-keeper smote 29 not out off just 10 balls batting at number five to see MCC to victory with eight balls to spare in a match reduced to 10 overs per side.

Cox has been given the tag 'Mr Reliable' by Worcestershire Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes – and he did not let the MCC down.

The former Bromsgrove School pupil hit two sixes and three fours as MCC overtook Durham's 89-5.

He had earlier taken one catch to dismiss Paul Collingwood.

Cox's County team-mate Joe Clarke was also part of the MCC X1 but did not have the opportunity bat.

Cox was also at the wicket when MCC completed a last ball seven wicket win over Peshawar Zalmi in another Group B match.

He was unbeaten on seven as MCC were set a reduced target of 69 in nine overs.

Peshawar had earlier totalled 133-8 in a full 20 overs but the target was reduced after the elements intervened.

Clarke again did not have time for a bat.

The Worcestershire duo are also part of the MCC squad for the four-day Champion County match versus Middlesex which gets underway on Sunday.
