DARYL GIVES LITTLE AWAY WITH THE BALL IN VITALITY BLAST

Daryl Mitchell is the most economical Vitality Blast bowler in the country of anyone who has bowled 10 or more overs in this season’s competition.

The Worcestershire Rapids player has been a model of consistency in terms of tight bowling performances in the T20 format.

Mitchell has conceded just 5.48 runs per over from his 27 overs.

The 35-year-old did an excellent job taking pace off the ball in the middle overs at a time when the Rapids were without spin trio Brett D’Oliveira, George Rhodes and Ben Twohig through injury.

Rapids Blast captain Moeen Ali is now back to fill that role but Mitchell has still been a valuable contributor and conceded only 26 runs in four overs on Sunday when Lancashire Lightning amassed 218 in their 20 overs.

He is also only three wickets away from moving level on 92 with Jack Shantry – the Rapids leading T20 record wicket-taker.
