Development X1 And Seconds Are Frustrated By The Weather

Worcestershire Development Of Excellence X1’s hopes of an exciting finish to their two-day encounter with the Oxfordshire Emerging Player Programme X1 at Dumbleton were ended by the weather.

The home side, who were 110-3, overnight. declared on 142-5 – 78 runs in arrears.

Oxfordshire reached 127-4 in their second innings – an overall advantage of 205 – but then the elements intervened and the game was abandoned.

Worcestershire’s overnight pair of Oli Caswell and Tom Longworth were dismissed when play resumed today for 61 and 29 respectively.

Keeper Vikai Dass and Edd Bragg added 16 more runs before the declaration.

When Oxfordshire batted for a second time, Brendan Lovatt struck an early blow as H.Pretorius (4) was caught behind by Dass.

Dass also brought about two stumpings and then Charlie Greening trapped top scorer, opener and skipper W. Hawtin (66) lbw, before rain set in.

Lovatt, Greening, Zak Abbas and Aaron Tomson all ended with one wicket apiece.
