Brett D'Oliveira hit the first double hundred of his career as Worcestershire secured maximum batting points in the Specsavers County Championship clash with Glamorgan at Cardiff.
D'Oliveira went to the landmark with his 32nd boundary – a flick to the square leg boundary off Michael Hogan – from his 359th ball.
Worcestershire immediately declared at 456-6 from 120.2 overs half an hour after lunch after claiming all five batting points for the third successive game.
Then Joe Leach (2) and Ed Barnard made early inroads with the new ball in reducing Glamorgan to 8-3 at one stage.
The home side eventually closed the day on 42-4 from 20 overs with rain preventing any play after 3.50pm and a total of 45 overs lost in the day.
Credit to the Glamorgan team with all of them shaking hands with D'Oliveira after he reached his double century and it was poignant he achieved the milestone against the Welsh county.
For they were the opposition two years ago when Worcestershire Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes broke the sad news on the New Road outfield to the players of Damian D'Oliveira's death on the first morning.
How proud Damian would be of this magnificent effort by Brett who last week scored his maiden Championship ton against Essex at New Road.
He gave only one chance when on 48 and his stand of 253 in 57.5 overs for the third wicket with Joe Clarke formed the bedrock of the Worcestershire innings.
The County raced past the 400 mark in the 108th over after resuming on 343-2 despite a 40 minute break for rain on day two at the Swalec Stadium.
D'Oliveira resumed on 152 and Clarke 105 and the pair of them had agggressive intent from the opening overs.
Clarke collected a boundary in three successive overs and 28 runs had been added in 6.1 overs when the players left the field because of light rain at 11.30.
On the resumption Clarke's excellent knock ended on 133 – just two short of his career best.
The 19-year-old got an inside edge to a delivery from Craig Meschede and keeper Mark Wallace held onto a fine catch away to his left.
Clarke hit one six and 19 fours in his 166 ball knock.
The partnership fell only 11 runs short of the County's highest third wicket partnership against Glamorgan of 264 by Damian D'Oliveira and Graeme Hick at Abergavenny in 1990.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore showed his aggressive intentions by picking up two from a scoop shot from his second ball against Meschede.
He hit the same bowler for six over mid wicket before three wickets fell in successive overs.
Kohler-Cadmore (10) lofted Wagg to long off, Ross Whiteley (0) was caught behind off Michael Hogan and Ben Cox (1) edged Wagg to second slip.
D'Oliveira was still undefeated on 180 from 341 balls with 27 fours when lunch was taken on 411-6 from 113 overs.
Mitchell Santner on his debut made 23 not out in adding an unbroken 46 with D'Oliveira before the declaration.
Leach then made a double breakthrough when Glamorgan launched their reply.
The County's Players' Player Of The Year struck in his second over when Nicholas Selman (4) was trapped lbw.
Then the very next delivery accounted for Will Bragg (0) with Kohler-Cadmore taking a good catch at slip to leave Glamorgan on 8-2.
Worcestershire struck again without addition to the score when Ed Barnard, who shared the new ball with Leach, yorked Wallace for four.
It left Jacques Rudolph and Chris Cooke with the task of trying to repair the damage for the home side.
But it became 40-4 when Rudolph was run out attempting a third run after a superb throw from Santner.
Cooke turned Jack Shantry towards the extra cover boundary but Santner's throw to Cox left Rudolph short of his ground.
When the heavens opened, Cooke was unbeaten on 27 and Leach finished the day with figures of 8-4-15-2, Barnard 6-1-19-1 and Shantry 6-3-8-0.
Worcestershire will be hoping the forecast is not as gloomy as predicted for tomorrow.
