Dolly And Twohig Amongst The Wickets As Seconds Fightback At New Road

Worcestershire Seconds fought back on the opening day of the three friendly match against Hampshire Seconds at New Road with spinners Brett D'Oliveira and the impressive Ben Twohig claiming three wickets apiece.

Hampshire were well placed at 226-3 after being put into bat by Worcestershire skipper Gareth Andrew on an overcast morning with Chris Russell claiming two early wickets.

But then wickets fell at regular intervals with D'Oliveira removing Tom Alsop and Adam Hose who shared in a fourth wicket stand of 140 in 34 overs.

Hose departed for 52 after being caught behind but Alsop went onto make 134 from 168 balls with 19 fours before Matt Pardoe held onto a chance at mid-wicket.

D'Oliveira also accounted for Tom Friend for a duck, caught this time at mid-wicket by Ed Barnard, and finished with 3-79 from 18 overs.

Twohig impressed and obtained turn as he got amongst the wickets with Andrew Gorvin caught at cover, Basil Akram falling to a chance behind, and Brad Taylor nicking to slip.

He ended with figures of 3-25 from eight overs before the declaration.

Worcestershire lost Pardoe lbw to Akram for eight before they closed on 25-1 from five overs.
