Dolly And Williams Help Seconds Gain Innings Success Over Middlesex

Worcestershire Seconds gained an impressive innings and three runs success over Middlesex Seconds with a day to spare in a friendly encounter at Radlett CC.

The county were bowled out early on the third day for 451 – a first innings lead of 246 – and then dismissed the home side for 243 in their second knock.

Joe Denly scored a century for Middlesex but spinners Brett D'Oliveira and Darrell Williams took three wickets apiece to help seal a deserved success for Worcestershire.

Worcestershire added nine more runs to their overnight total before being bowled out for 451 with keeper Alex Milton unbeaten on 103.

Then triallist Ben Sanderson struck for ,in the second over of the Middlesex innings, trapping opener Cameron Steel lbw for a single.

Nick Gubbins and Joe Denly put on 133 for the second Middlesex wicket, batting through until 10 overs after lunch.

Triallist Adnan Ghaus, who picked up five first innings wickets, made the breakthrough with the first ball of his seventh over to dismiss Gubbins for 52.

Denly batted solidly throughout for his 119 but all the time wickets were falling at the other end to a variety of bowlers.

Middlesex went into tea at 210-6 having lost four wickets for 64 runs in the 20 overs after Gubbins was dismissed.

After the interval D’Oliveira (3-52) and Williams (3-45) bowled 19 overs of spin in 51 minutes and cleaned up the Middlesex tail for just 33 more runs.
