Dolly Hits Third Century For Seconds After Moving Into Opener’s Role

Brett D'Oliveira scored his third century for Worcestershire Seconds after moving up to the role of opener in the three-day clash with Hampshire Seconds at New Road.

The all-rounder hit 102 from 154 balls with 18 fours and as Worcestershire reached 337-8 before declaring – a first innings lead of seven.

Hampshire then reached 132-4 in their second innings to set up the prospect of an interesting final day tomorrow.

D'Oliveira's previous centuries for the Seconds had both come against Warwickshire – 100 not out in 2011 and 119 not out in 2012.

Worcestershire resumed on 25-1 and D'Oliveira shared a third wicket stand of 141 with Ross Whiteley whose 93 ball 60 contained 56 in boundaries with 11 fours and two sixes.

The 22-year-old was eventually fourth out at 218 – caught at second slip – but then skipper Gareth Andrew and Alex Hepburn both scored half centuries and shared a sixth wicket stand of 79 before the declaration.

Graeme Cessford picked up two early wickets in Hampshire's second innings as they were reduced to 49-3 before Joe Gatting's unbeaten half century led a partial recovery.
