Brett D’Oliveira joined a select band of Worcestershire players with his superb performance during the drawn Specsavers County Championship match with Glamorgan at Cardiff.
He became only the fourth Worcestershire player to score a century and take seven wickets in an innings in the same Championship game.
The last player to achieve that feat was Imran Khan with one of the best all-round performances in the County’s history.
Imran, a member of the County’s 1974 Championship winning team, scored 111 not out and had bowling figures of 7-53 followed by 6-46 against Lancashire in 1976.
The former Pakistan captain, a pupil at RGS Worcester, went onto play 88 Tests, taking 362 wickets and scoring 3807 runs and competing with Ian Botham, Richard Hadlee and Kapil Dev for the title of the world’s best all-rounder during the late 1970s and 1980s.
In 1909 Ted Arnold hit 200 not out and had a bowling return of 7-44 against Warwickshire.
He had previously played in 10 Tests for England between 1903 and 1907 which brought him 31 wickets.
In his career Arnold scored 15,853 first class runs with a highest score of 215 and totalled 1,069 wickets.
In 1928 Fred Root hit 107 and picked up seven wickets for 125 runs against Kent.
He began his career with tomorrow’s opponents, Derbyshire, before moving to Worcestershire.
Root played in three Tests against Australia in 1926 and his career yielded 1,512 first class victims and 7,911 first class runs.
