Double Award Winner Morris Aiming To Bowl Quicker In 2015

Double Player of The Year award winner Charlie Morris hopes to become an even more potent member of Worcestershire's attack in 2015 – by increasing his pace.

Morris, voted the club's Players' Player and Young Player of 2014, had a first full season to remember at New Road with 52 wickets in the LV = County Championship.

He formed a key part of the pace attack in tandem with Jack Shantry and Gareth-Andrew-Joe Leach.

But this winter Morris has been striving to learn to bowl quicker via his work with the county's coaching staff and fitness and conditioning expert Ross Dewar and will continue that when the players report back on January 5.

He said: "In terms of putting on extra pace, there is a lot to come in that regard.

"I've done a lot of gym work at Oxford MCCU over the past few years which has definitely had a full impact.

"But I think my first full winter here with Ross Dewar (fitness and conditioning coach) is having a really big part to play in putting on more pace and also working on technically ironing out some things in my action.

"That will hopefully mean I can put on that extra pace and to be able to bowl it for longer periods of time as well and hopefully improve my potency as an attack bowler."

Morris added: "It is about hard work. It is about putting in the time in the gym, not just for a couple of sessions, constantly putting it in, and to iron out things in the action takes repetitive training sessions and lots of repetition of the right way of doing your action.

"But if you focus on it, and are passionate enough, I believe you can do anything in life and I'm really passionate to put on more pace and have the focus to do that."
