Double Reason To Look Forward To 2016 Season

Double Reason To Look Forward To 2016 Season

Worcestershire CCC members have a double reason to look forward to the 2016 season.

First there is the news that many members and supporters hoped for with the LV= County Championship to remain as a 16 game competition in 2016.

There will instead be a full consultation period implemented by the ECB to discuss any possible changes for 2017 and beyond.

But also remaining the same are the County's membership prices for next season.

It will not cost a single penny extra to watch what promises to be another exciting campaign for skipper Daryl Mitchell and the players.

The price freeze is a gesture of appreciation by the County for the "valued support" of the Membership which increased significantly for the 2015 Season.

And by switching to Direct Debit there is another financial incentive to save £30 on the cost of a 2016 Adult Membership.

There is plenty to be excited about already for next season after the many highlights during 2015.

Who will ever forget Joe Leach's hat-trick with the first three balls of the Royal London One-Day Cup match with Northants or RossWhiteley's brutal 91 not out off 35 balls with 11 sixes in the NatWest T20 Blast clash with Yorkshire.

Then there was rising star Joe Clarke's 131 not out against Gloucestershire in the Royal London One-Day Cup plus his maiden LV= County Championship hundred against Sussex.

Skipper Daryl Mitchell's unbeaten double century during the innings win over Hampshire in the LV= CC will live long in the memory as will Charlie Morris' inspired opening spells on his way to best ever match figures of 9-109 during another innings victory against Somerset.

Members will also be heartened by the long term contracts of Joe Clarke, Ed Barnard, Joe Leach, Tom Fell, Brett D'Oliveira, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Charlie Morris and Ross Whiteley which means their talent can be enjoyed at New Road for many years to come.

Membership and Ticketing Manager Amy Francetti said: "We've had a great response to 2015 and we are looking forward already to 2016 which will again consist of 16 Championship matches and the full Royal London One-Day Cup and T20 competitions.

"There has been some great cricket to enjoy this summer and we've had our youngsters going from strength to strength and signing up long term contracts. It's all looking promising.

"We've also got the Pakistan tour match to look forward to next summer as well and the T20 where hopefully we can go that one step further.

“To reward members for their loyalty, if they took advantage of our previous Price Freeze promotion in 2014, they will still only pay the same price as they paid back in 2014 if they renew before 31st October 2015."
