Durham Skipper Collingwood Full Of Praise For Worcs Performance

Durham captain Paul Collingwood was full of praise for Worcestershire's performance in the LV = County Championship clash between the sides at New Road.

Collingwood hit a century in Durham's six wicket win 45 minutes into the fourth day but says they were pushed all the way by Daryl Mitchell's side.

Former England T20 skipper Collingwood said: "We probably got outplayed for 75% of that match and a lot of credit must go for Worcestershire for putting us under pressure.

"I thought the way they stuck to their guns, the accuracy with the ball in the first innings on a pitch that was certainly doing a little bit, I thought they were magnificent.

"They stuck to their skills, stuck to their strengths and we found it hard to combat that and it took a special innings from Scott Borthwick and Graham Onions at the end there to get us anywhere near their first innings score.

"They are not far away. It is as simple as that.

"The wicket flattened out on day three under the sunshine and you could really sense they put a lot of effort into that first innings.

"You could sense if you get through a couple of spells, we might be able to build some partnerships which is what we did."
