ENGLAND STARS IMPRESS FOR BERKSHIRE IN VICTORY OVER WOMEN’S RAPIDS

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids came up against a powerful Berkshire side and went down by 219 runs in a Royal London County One-Day Championship match at Maidenhead CC.

England captain Heather Knight hit a century and World Cup winner Anya Shrubsole picked up three wickets for the home side.

Berkshire elected to bat and Rapids bowlers Sally Clarke and Jessica Humby both enjoyed an early success.

But Knight and England Academy player Alice MacLeod joined forces at 36-2 and put on 229 for the third wicket.

Knight made 131 off 121 balls with one six and 18 fours and MacLeod 95 off 116 deliveries with 10 boundaries as Berkshire totalled 296-4 in their 50 overs.

The pair of them both fell to Sarah Glenn who finished with 2-57 from 10 overs. Humby bowled her 10 overs for 40 runs and one wicket and Clarke ended with 1-59.

Keeper and vice-captain Chloe Hill top-scored with 28 off 58 balls with four fours for the Rapids who were bowled out for 77 in 28.4 overs.

Shrubsole returned figures of 7-3-8-3 with Phoebe Graham (3-14) the other main wicket-taker.
