Former players turned out in force to celebrate the 90th birthday of Jean Kenyon – the widow of ex Worcestershie captain Don Kenyon.
Jean's family organised the surprise treat which was fittingly held in the Don Kenyon Room (1865 Lounge).
Norman Gifford, Alan Ormrod, Ron Headley and former club chairman Duncan Fearnley were amongst the ex stars who attended the function on Friday afternoon.
They all played under Don who skippered Worcestershire to the 1964 and 1965 County Championship titles – the first in the club's history.
Current Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes also attended and he was a player during Don's tenure as club president when Worcestershire won the 1988 and 1989 Championship titles.
Club officials and board members also honoured Jean who received many cards and several presents as well as enjoying the selections of cakes and sandwiches on offer with tea and coffee.
Brierley Hill born Jean was married to Don – Worcestershire's record run scorer – in 1947 and they were together for 49 years until his death in 1996 at the age of 72.
She is still a keen follower of the County's fortunes and regularly attends the Worcestershire Cricket Society meetings at New Road every month.
Don amassed a career total of 37,002 first class runs with 74 hundreds and 180 half centuries and played eight Tests for England.
He was chosen as one of the Wisden Cricketers Of The Year in 1963 and was an England selector from 1965 to 1972.
