alex milton and steve magoffin’s record-breaking partnership for worcestershire against somerset was only the fourth century stand for the last wicket by the county in first class cricket.
debutant century-maker milton and magoffin raised the bar to a new level by putting on 136 on the final day of the specsavers county championship match at New Road.
it surpassed the previous best 10th wicket partnership in first class cricket for worcestershire of 119 by william burns and george wilson – also against somerset at new road 112 years ago.
but the other two century stands for the last wicket were achieved in more modern times.
in 1994 current icc elite panel umpire richard illingworth and the late parvaz mirza added 102 against kent at canterbury.
it was a memorable debut for paceman parvaz who made his top-score of 40.

*steve magoffin’s 43 was his highest score for worcestershire, surpassing his 33 versus derbyshire in 2008.
he fell seven runs short of his second half century in england, made for sussex against northamptonshire in 2014.
*worcestershire head bowling coach alan richardson has featured in a double century last wicket stand.
richardson was playing for warwickshire when he added 214 with nick knight in a championship match against hampshire at edgbaston in 2002.
the former worcestershire paceman reached 91 with 10 fours and a six and a first century of his career was in sight when he was stumped off the part time bowling of giles white to leave knight unbeaten on 255.
