Fell Hits Ton As Seconds Chase Down 300 Plus Score For Fine Victory

Tom Fell hit a century as Worcestershire Seconds pulled off a splendid seven wicket win against Leicestershire Seconds in their Championship match at RGS Worcester.

The home side were set a target of 326 in a minimum of 67 overs after Leicestershire declared at lunch-time on the final day at 302-8.

But Fell, backed up by half centuries from Adam Wiffen and skipper Alex Hepburn – his second sizeable contribution of the game – and a rapid cameo from keeper Alex Milton romped home with 2.4 overs to spare.

Worcestershire collected 23 points in sealing a third Championship win of the summer.

Leicestershire resumed on 133-2 in their second innings and once again Aadil Ali was their main contributor as he followed his first innings 99 with another 80 before holing out to short mid on off Hepburn.

The declaration was hastened to by four overs of 'friendly' bowling from Ollie Westbury and Ben Twohig.

Unusually all seven Worcestershire bowlers picked up one wicket apiece – plus a run out.

Openers Westbury and Fell set a positive tone by putting on 43 in nine overs before the former was dismissed for 10.

Fell, who this week signed a new two year contract with the County, was then joined by Wiffen and they added 148 in 37 overs.

They moved the total to 191 before Fell, whose 101 off 117 balls contained 17 fours, was caught behind off Ali.

The same bowler then accounted for Wiffen who again showed his promise with 77 from 142 deliveries with 10 boundaries before he was caught at first slip.

Worcestershire were then 218-3 but the in form Hepburn and Milton hurried them to victory with an unbroken partnership of 108 in just 15 overs.

Hepburn, who struck 98 in the first innings, finished unbeaten on 76 from 67 balls with one six and six fours and again batted with positive intent from the start.

Milton ended on 40 not out from 34 balls with three boundaries as victory was achieved in 64.2 overs.
