Fell Rewrites Record Books As Seconds Wrap Up T20 Programme With Win

Tom Fell rewrote the record books as Worcestershire Seconds ended their T20 programme on a successful note with victory in the second of two matches with Yorkshire Seconds at Marske.

Fell hit 120 not out from just 58 balls with six sixes and 11 fours as Worcestershire triumphed by 38 runs.

It beat the 100 not out by Tom Kohler-Cadmore in the short format of the game for Worcestershire Seconds versus Glamorgan Seconds at Kidderminster four years ago.

Fell also holds the record for the highest score by a Worcestershire player in the Second Eleven Championship.

His 223 against MCC Young Cricketers at Barnt Green last summer surpassed the 222 by Joe Clarke when taking on the same opposition at Kidderminster in 2014.

The Seconds finished their T20 programme with three wins and nine defeats from their 12 North Division matches.

Fell’s record-breaking score helped Worcestershire total 209-3 declared after they had been put into bat and he shared in a second wicket stand of 105 in 10 overs with skipper Ollie Westbury (42 off 34 balls).

Yorkshire never looked like reaching their stiff target after losing both openers with only four runs on the board to triallists Conor Harvey and Alex Simpson.

Jack Leaning hit 56 but the Tykes closed well short on 171-9. Harvey, who has played for Durham Seconds and Northumberland, ended with 3-44.

Fell had also been in good form in Game One with 65 from 37 balls with two sixes and 10 fours but the Seconds were beaten by four runs after looking favourites to win.

Opener Alex Lees hit 78 for Yorkshire out of their 165-3 while Simpson and another triallist in Andrew Brewster bowled tidy spells.

Fell, who had also hit 65 and 48 in the previous two T20 matches with MCC YC at Wolverhampton, shared in half century stands with George Rhodes (19) and Josh Dell (33).

Worcestershire had reached 116-2 in the 12th over but, after Fell’s dismissal at that juncture, lost momentum and closed on 161-7.
