Fell Says Worcs Will Reap Benefits Of Rhodes Spell With England Lions

Tom Fell believes Worcestershire will ultimately reap the benefits of Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes' winter spell with England Lions as one of the coaching staff.

Rhodes has linked up with the Lions in UAE this week ahead of five T20 matches against Pakistan 'A' and will return in the New Year for five 50 over contests against the same opposition.

Fell says Rhodes' international recognition is well deserved and that he will digest and take in ideas which he will eventually pass onto the squad at New Road upon his return.

He said: "Bumpy thoroughly deserves it. He gets a lot of praise and rightly so for what he does here.

"We are quite a young side and we consistently get promotion. We struggled a bit in Division One but to get this young group together and perform as well as we have is testament to Bumpy really.

"It is great for the club that he is getting the recognition as it is for Ross (Whiteley) and Joe(Clarke). It is a good sign for the rest of us I think.

"Bumpy's ideas are so fresh and you need that when you have got young players and the way the game is changing it is important to keep up with that and Bumpy certainly does that.

"He comes in with new ideas for training and always has got new ideas on the field as we saw with using no keeper in a couple of T20s last year.

"It just shows he is always thinking and coming up with new stuff and keeps the side moving forward."

Fell added: "I'm sure he will pick up some stuff with the Lions and bring it back to Worcester which is good. We will keep learning.

"These guys he is working with (the Lions) are very good county cricketers and if he can learn stuff and bring it back here, it will help our learning as well."
