FERGUSON SECOND TOP SCORER BUT THUNDER GO UNDER TO RENEGADES

Callum Ferguson made another useful contribution with the bat but his side, Sydney Thunder, have dropped out of the top four in the Big Bash.

The Worcestershire 2018 and 2019 player was second top scorer with 28 from 30 balls as the Thunder chased a Melbourne Renegades total of 140-7.

The 34-year-old steadied the Thunder innings on a slow, low pitch and struck three boundaries.

Ferguson, who had scored 52 and 113 not out in his previous two knocks, was fifth out with the total on 68 in the 11th over.

He connected well enough with a delivery from paceman Chris Tremain but picked out deep mid wicket.

Only debutant keeper Baxter Holt (37) eclipsed Ferguson’s contribution as the Thunder were bowled out for 113 in 19.1 overs.

Thunder are now occupying fifth spot in the table with five wins, six defeats and one no result.

The Renegades also struggled for runs and stood on 77-6 in the 14th over but Cameron Boyce chased the course of the game with 51 not out off 22 balls.
