Adam Finch finished with the fine figures of 4-47 in helping England Under-19s bowl out their South African counterparts for 209 on the second day of the second ‘Test’ at the Emirates Riverside.
The Worcestershire Academy player had picked up two wickets on the first day in dismissing openers Joshua Richards and Jacob Miltz cheaply.
He followed that up with another two scalps after South Africa had resumed on 118-5 following a truncated opening day.
Finch dismissed Mondli Khumalo (0) to leave the Proteas on 151-8 and then wrapped up the innings by accounting for Jade de Klerk (47) to end his four hours of defiance.
The Stourbridge born player had figures of 8.2-1-24-2 for his efforts today and finished with an overall analysis of 21.2-6-47-4.
The 18-year-old had also bowled well but with little tangible reward in the first ‘Test’ at Scarborough when he picked up one wicket.
That followed on from his three appearances for the Under-19s in the ICC World Cup in New Zealand this winter against Canada, Bangladesh and New Zealand.
When England batted, another Worcestershire Academy player in Jack Haynes top-scored with a fighting 28 as his side struggled for runs.
He came in at 6-2 and battled it out for 102 minutes in making 28 off 57 balls with two boundaries.
Haynes was eventually sixth out at 67 and England are still 88 in arrears at 121-9 from 60 overs heading into the third day.
