GEORGIE ADCOCK IS APPOINTED CAPTAIN OF WOMEN’S RAPIDS FOR 2019

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids have chosen their 2019 captain, vice-captain and summer squad as they prepare to launch their Royal London County One-Day Championship Division Two campaign this weekend.

Georgie Adcock will skipper the side and wicket-keeper Chloe Hill is the vice-captain with the pair displaying “strong leadership” during the winter training programme and trio of warm-up matches.

They form part of a 16 strong squad for the forthcoming campaign when the Rapids will also be participating in the ECB County Championship T20 competition.

A 13 strong party has been chosen for the opening two One-Day Championship matches – against Middlesex at Mill Hill School on Sunday and versus Berkshire at Maidenhead CC on Bank Holiday Monday.

Steve Magoffin, who is Lead Coach and manager of the Women’s Rapids pathway programme, said: “We have had an extremely successful and competitive winter training programme, followed up by hard fought warm up games versus Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Nottinghamshire.

“Our summer squad is now finalised, along with the appointment of Georgie Adcock as Captain, and Chloe Hill as Vice Captain.

“Both Georgie and Chloe have displayed strong leadership during the winter, and warm up games, and both Gareth Davies (Rapids Head Coach) and myself are looking forward to seeing them grow into their leadership roles, and taking the team forward in the summer.”

Magoffin added: “Our first two fixtures will be tough, against strong opposition, but we feel we are well prepared, and look forward to taking on what are regarded as two of the stronger teams in this Division”.
