Alex Gidman was delighted to end the 2014 season on a high by demonstrating his best form with the bat before joining up with Worcestershire on a two year contract.
The 33-year-old finished with 1,277 runs and as the third highest run-getter in Division Two of the LV = County Championship behind Hampshire's James Vince and Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell.
Gidman admits he struggled to fire on all cylinders with Gloucestershire during the first half of the campaign but he made up for lost time.
He scored a superb hundred in the win over Worcestershire at New Road and then a double ton at Leicestershire's expense at Bristol.
Gidman said: "It's funny batting, isn't it. It's one of those things where you can find form quite quickly.
"You've got to cash in when you are in good form and make the most of it.
"I found a batting rhythm that went for a period of time and managed to use it to my advantage.
"It was nice to have a strong period like that but seasons can often go like that. You can really scrap for runs and if you hang in there, you often get a change of fortune.
"One thing I've learnt over the years is to stick to your game plans and grind it out and it was a bit of an effort for the first half of the season. I never really felt in good form but delighted to finish the way I did.
"It was satisfying to get a few hundreds and get over that thousand run mark which is always anyone's goal."
