Gillespie Says Tykes Will Have To Be At Best For New Road Start

Gillespie Says Tykes Will Have To Be At Best For New Road Start

Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie says his side will have to bring "our very best game" for the champions LV = County Championship opener with Worcestershire at New Road tomorrow.

The Tykes will be without seven players through a combination of England duty and suspension for the clash with skipper Daryl Mitchell's promoted team.

But they will have available India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara as their overseas player in place of Younus Khan who pulled out of a spell at Headingley.

Gillespie said: "Worcestershire are a good side. We will need to bring our very best game.

"They had four or five players who played every game last season and that is telling.

"They had good contributions throughout their line-up and we know not to underestimate anyone.

"They know their conditions well at home."

Gillespie knows his line-up for tomorrow in a repeat of Worcestershire's opening fixture when they last returned to Division One for the 2011 season – and stayed up.

He said: "I've been clear for a little while who'll be in our starting XI. You always have an idea exactly what you want but these things can change."
