Hastings Picks Up Three Wickets But Aussies Go Under To Proteas

Worcestershire 2017 overseas player John Hastings was Australia's most successful bowler but could not prevent his side losing by 142 runs to South Africa in the second ODI in Johannesburg.

Hastings finished 3-57 from 10 overs and was also his side's most economical bowler.

But the Proteas still amassed 361-6 in their 50 overs and then bowled out Australia for 219 in 37.2 overs.

Hastings removed openers Quinton de Kock (22) and Rilee Roussouw (75) but then Faf du Plesis (111) and JP Duminy (82) added 150 for the third wicket.

David Miller (22) provided Hastings with his third success.

The 30-year-old all-rounder then struck a quickfire 23 off 25 balls – including two sixes – batting at number eight but by then the outcome was virtually sealed in favour of South Africa.

Hastings had scored his maiden ODI half century in the first ODI of the series.

The former Durham player is expected to be available for the majority of the 2017 campaign at New Road.
