HAYNES HITS UNBEATEN 80 FOR ENGLAND UNDER-19S IN WARM-UP WIN

Jack Haynes warmed up for England Under-19s Tri-Series in the Caribbean by hitting an unbeaten 80 in the first of two victories against an Antigua X1 at Coolidge Cricket Ground.

The Worcestershire CCC batsman dominated an unbroken fourth wicket stand of 121 in just 17.3 overs with Somerset’s Lewis Goldsworthy (34 not out).

Haynes hit two sixes and eight fours in his 65 ball knock batting at number four as England chased down a 179 target in 27.4 overs in the 50 overs a side contest.

It was the perfect start for Haynes in his bid to seal a spot in England’s World Cup squad for the ICC Under-19s World Cup in South Africa in the New Year.

England are taking on West Indies and Sri Lanka in the Tri-Series.

Their opening international will also take place at Coolidge CC on Friday against Sri Lanka with the West Indies providing the opposition at the same venue on Monday (December 9).

Haynes did not play in the second warm-up game which England won by 10 wickets after bowling out the Antigua X1 for 81.
