Head Becomes 24Th Australian To Play Championship Cricket For County

Travis Head will tomorrow become the 24th Australian cricketer to play County Championship cricket for Worcestershire.

The 24-year-old left hander will follow Herbert Hopkins, Tom Moody and Mark Harrity in being the fourth South Australia to represent Worcestershire in the Championship.

Head is the current captain of South Australia and also led the Adelaide Strikers to Big Bash glory this winter.

He will become the 16th Australian this century to play County Championship cricket for Worcestershire.

Last season John Hastings and Nathan Lyon helped Worcestershire to gain promotion in the Championship.

The link with Down Under was further strengthened with the re-signing of paceman Steve Magoffin this winter.
