Head Helps Australia To Pull Off The Great Escape

Worcestershire 2018 overseas player Travis Head played a major role in Australia pulling off the Great Escape and drawing the first Test with Pakistan in Dubai.

Head showed great composure for someone making his Test debut after Australia had been set a daunting 462 to win.

The 24-year-old resumed on 34 not out at the beginning of the final day with Australia 136-3.

He went onto make 72 from 175 deliveries with five boundaries.

Head was finally fourth out with the total on 219 after adding 132 in 49 overs of defiance with Usman Khawaja.

He was eventually leg before to spinner Mohammad Hafeez.

But Australia continued to battle away with Khawaja going onto make 141 and skipper Tim Paine and undefeated 61.

When the two teams eventually shook hands, Australia had reached 362-8 from 139.5 overs.
